The radio-program "The Secret Language" was commissioned and prepared during summer 2014. It was broadcast on June 15th 2014 on the community radio-station "Cre8" based at Staffordshire University. The programme presents the history of Esperanto in Stoke-on-Trent. Interviews with veterans like Hilda Jones, who speaks about the establishment of summer schools at Wedgwood Memorial College, and Marjorie Boulton, who for a quarter-century organised the schools, and non-Esperantists at the pub "The Green Star", and also with Esperantists like Sally Phillips, and Terry and Anica Page, illuminate not only the importance of Stoke-on-Trent in the development of Esperanto in Britain but also social, family and cultural aspects of the International Language. The programme was edited by Jill Gubbins, who deserves particular thanks.
